Overall Comparison

These two trucks are almost identical in several areas. Both models have a 5.0 safety rating and come with a 2.7L I-4 engine for the base trim. They are rear-wheel drive and seat up to three with the regular cab. Both trucks use an eight-speed automatic transmission for smooth handling. Even the front legroom is identical in the two models.

Premium Performance

As you move up the trim line, you’ll continue to see similarities between the two trucks. Both models offer the exact same three engines and a ten-speed automatic transmission. They also include four-door models to fit up to five passengers with the same 43.4 inches of rear legroom. However, the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 is slightly bigger with more cargo length and volume. The difference isn’t big, but it might be enough to sway you to the GMC. However, the Chevy comes out ahead if you need more hauling capability. It can handle up to 13,000 pounds for the maximum trailer weight compared to 8800 pounds for the GMC.

Today’s Tech

Chevy and GMC provide advanced technology for their trucks with the upper trims loaded. Both models include SiriusXM with 360L and pair the phone via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The technology on these two models is almost identical with the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 including navigation built in, which the Silverado 1500 doesn’t have. However, both models have automatic climate control with dual settings in the front on the higher trims. Each truck includes a Head-Up Display to show vehicle data on the windshield. Chevy and GMC load up their trucks with safety features. Both models account for hauling a trailer with Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert Blind Spot. They include Forward Collision Alert and Forward Collision Mitigation. GMC adds automatic braking to the system. Chevy includes Driver Attention Assist and Super Cruise.

Off-roading Prowess

When you look at the two trims designed for off-roading, you’ll continue to see many similarities. For the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, the trim is the ZR2 while GMC has its ever-popular Denali trim. Both models have similar trailer weight limits, but GMC offers slightly more payload. The Sierra 1500 Denali also includes integrated navigation and a Bose 12-speaker system compared to seven speakers for the ZR2. In this pairing, GMC includes Driver Attention Assist while the Chevy ZR2 doesn’t have it.

When you compare the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500, you’re not going to find a lot of differences. These two trucks are more similar than they are different with the exception of style. In the end, your preference is going to be based on which design appeals the most.
