Rice County Fair

Who doesn’t love a county fair? The taste of corn dogs, cotton candy, and deep fried something. Rides and other special events to capture the imagination of all ages. Harry Brown’s was proud to sponsor the 2023 Rice County Fair as a premier community event for our friends in Owatonna, Lakeville, Northfield and all around the area.

Held in July, the fair hosted several days of fun and excitement this year. There was something for everyone whether you were looking for entertainment or to showcase your own talent. Kids and kids at heart enjoyed a few thrills in the daily carnival while the demolition derby drew in a crowd with some spectacular feats of destruction.

Kids’ Activities

It’s easy to keep the kids occupied at the Rice County Fair. They visited the Children’s Barnyard where they could see a baby calf, baby goats and bunnies, and more. They could even try their hand at “milking.” For an educational experience, the Rice County Historical Society provided demonstrations every day, such as quilting, blacksmithing, corn shelling, doing laundry by hand, and more.

Kids who wanted to be more involved had the opportunity to be part of the Kids Pedal Tractor Pull. This contest was for kids between the ages of 4 and 11. And of course, the carnival rides with a special kids’ day on Friday with wristbands for $30 for unlimited rides.

Adult Fun

Adults had plenty of options to keep them entertained as well. Enduro Races were held on Wednesday while Sunday offered the chance to watch barrel racing and pole bending for horse lovers.

The grandstand offered some captivating entertainment, such as MAW Live (Midwest All-Star Wrestling) on Thursday night. On Friday, spectators had the chance to see the top talent in the PRCA rodeo circuit with the Barnes PRCA Rodeo. Saturday featured the UPM Truck and Tractor Pull with the Demolition Derby rounding out the lineup on Sunday.

The beer garden provided free entertainment with no cover charge. Attendees could rock out on Thursday to Smokescreen, enjoy some rocking country with the Devon Worley Band and jam to Mister Peabody on Saturday. Thursday and Friday also offered the chance to try your luck with Euchre and Texas Hold-Em tournaments.

Members of the local 4-H clubs had the chance to show off their skills with projects in the 4-H building. From pie making to agriculture, from fashion to food preservation, visitors were able to see just what the local youth were capable of.

Harry Brown’s was proud to be one of the platinum sponsors of this year’s Rice County Fair. We recognize the tremendous effort that goes into each year’s fair events and the dedicated team that works hard all year to pull it all together. We’re proud to be part of this tradition in some small way as part of the community we serve. We’re excited to see what next year’s fair has in store.
