The 2022 Chevy 6500 presents with 21,500-23,500 lbs. for the Maximum Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) when properly equipped, including weight of vehicle, passengers, cargo, and equipment, for your payload needs. Chevy’s chassis cabs have several upfit options available that include utility body, stake, dump truck bodies, and more. The chassis cab frames are designed from single-piece frame rails to provide extra strength and durability, and they are painted to protect from corrosion. Cab-to-axle designs upfit a variety of utility rear ends to meet business needs. Other features include a large 65-gallon diesel fuel tank and PTO left-handed access to allow upfitters to bring power from either side of the transmission.
Performance
Equipped with a 6.6L Duramax Turbo-Diesel V8 Engine and an Allison Transmission to support shuttle bus and school bus upfits, the 2022 Chevy 6500 can rise up to meet the work challenges that you have for it to tackle. The 5500 is capable of towing between 17,500 and 19,500 lbs. with 350 horsepower, while the 6500 can tow 30,000-37,000 lbs. with 350 hp and 750 lb.-ft of torque. Packages you can choose from to upfit your 6500 include Motorhome, Shuttlebus, School bus, Emergency Services, Snowplow, Aerial Work Vocational Package, and a Wrecker/Rollback Vocational Package.
