Hiawathaland Corvette Club

The team at Harry Brown’s loves all things car related. So, it’s not surprising that we would get involved with our local Hiawathaland Corvette Club. Special events allow fans of this iconic sports car to get up close and personal with their favorite model years.

We have partnered with the Corvette Club to showcase over 25 Corvette models to the public. At this special event, you can learn more about the Corvette or take a peek at a specific model year. It’s just one of the many events members of the Corvette Club get involved with. The club has something unique to offer each month, with a Holiday Party in December. If you live around Faribault, Minneapolis, or St. Paul, you can show off your love for all things Corvette by joining the club.

The History of the Corvette

Chevrolet Corvettes have long been a popular choice for their speed and precision. This American model has been around since 1953 with eight generations being produced. Though it started out as a V6 convertible, it has progressed in power with V8 engines powering it into the supercar class.

Corvettes always had a front mid-engine configuration until the most recent generation transitioned to a rear mid-engine placement. Originally built in Flint, Michigan and St. Louis, Missouri, today’s models are produced in the home city of the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The first Corvettes were hand-built with a fiberglass body in Polo White. The next year, the color palette expanded to the Pennant Blue, Black, and Sportsman Red. The second generation introduced the Sting Ray and was a smaller model than the original. It had an independent rear suspension and the option of an electronic ignition.

The third generation saw the Sting Ray become the Stingray with an updated exterior and interior. Two-tone paint was offered as an option with this model while the 25th Anniversary model added several special features. At the end of the fourth generation, Chevrolet produced a Grand Sport version to honor the original Grand Sport from 1963.

Today’s Corvette

While each new generation has offered changes that enhance the Chevy Corvette, today’s model is sure to become a legend. It’s the first version to include a retractable hardtop and to not offer a manual transmission. This eighth-generation Corvette is available as a coupe or convertible with the 2023 model including a hybrid powertrain.

Award-winning American Sports Car Icon

The Chevrolet Corvette has been honored numerous times since its inception. Automobile Magazine listed the first-generation model Stingray at the top of their list for 100 Coolest Cars. Car and Driver magazine has had the Corvette on its annual list of Ten Best a total of 16 times. Motor Trend named it the Car of the Year in 1984, 1998, and most recently, in 2020, proving this classic still wows buyers and sports car fans.

Harry Brown’s Family Automotive is proud to showcase this modern classic with those who share a love of American sports cars.
