7,500-mile Inspections

Certain inspections should occur every 7,500 miles to be proactive in maintaining your engine. You should check the diesel exhaust fluid tank and refill if necessary, rotate the tires, inspect the CV/universal joints, and inspect the front end and lubricate – if equipped with serviceable fittings.

Oil Change and Other Maintenance and Inspections at 15,000 Miles

  • We recommend getting your diesel engine oil changed every 15,000 miles, 12 months, or 500 hours, whichever comes first. It is important that you don’t exceed these markers, or your engine could be damaged and operation will be impaired.
  • Inspect the air cleaner filter and replace, if necessary. Do not exceed 30,000 miles or 24 months whichever comes first.
  • Inspect the front suspension, tie rod ends and boot seals for cracks, leaks, and all parts for damage, wear, improper looseness, or end play: replace if necessary.
  • Replace engine fuel filter element and replace chassis mounted fuel filter element.

Every 20,000 Miles

Inspect the front and rear axle surfaces. If gear oil leakage is suspected, check fluid levels. If using the vehicle for police, taxi, fleet, off road or any trailer towing, change the axle fluid.

Maintenance Steps at Every 22,500 Miles

When it comes to maintenance, regularly scheduled services and inspections help keep your vehicle running efficiently. Every 22,500 miles or every 18 months whichever comes first, do the following maintenance procedures:
  • Inspect the brake linings.
  • Inspect and adjust the parking brake.
  • Inspect drive belt and replace if necessary.
  • Replace cabin air filter.

30,000-Mile Maintenance

Every 30,000 miles or every 24 months, whichever comes first, do the following procedures:
  • Inspect wheel bearings.
  • Inspect the transfer case fluid (4x4), (change if vehicle is used for police, taxi, fleet, or frequent trailer towing).
  • Change automatic transmission fluid (with certain transmissions only, check owner’s manual for specific manufacturer recommended transmission fluid replacements).

Other Maintenance Time Frames

Some things you can do as you go to get ahead of any issues that may arise. For instance, at each stop for fuel wait 30 minutes and check engine oil on a level surface, add oil only if the oil level is at or below the ADD or MIN mark.
Each month check your batteries, and clean and tighten the terminals as required. Check the fluid levels of the coolant reservoir, brake master cylinder, and automatic transmission fluid and add as needed.
Bear in mind that these are guidelines to remember what needs to be done. for specific maintenance schedules, check your owner’s manual for recommended maintenance timeframes.
